  • Author: Rayne
  • Total Time: 1 hour 30 minutes

Ingredients

Scale

For the Steak Bites:

  • 1 lb (450g) sirloin steak or any Halal beef steak, cut into bite-sized cubes: Choose a cut of steak that is tender and flavorful for the best results.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil: For searing the steak bites.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder: For seasoning.
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder: For a rich flavor base.
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika: Adds a smoky flavor to the steak.
  • Salt and pepper to taste: To enhance the flavor of the steak bites.
  • 1 tablespoon butter: For adding richness and flavor while cooking the steak.

Baked Potatoes:

  • 4 large russet potatoes: These are perfect for baking, with a fluffy interior and crispy skin.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil: For rubbing the potatoes to help them crisp up in the oven.
  • Salt: To season the potatoes before baking.

Toppings:

  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese: For a rich, creamy topping that melts perfectly over the potato.
  • 1/2 cup sour cream: Adds a creamy, tangy element to balance the richness of the steak and cheese.
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions: For a fresh, crunchy topping.
  • 1/2 cup steamed broccoli florets (optional): For a veggie addition that adds color and texture.
  • 1/4 cup crispy onions (optional): For an extra crunch and flavor contrast.
  • Fresh parsley or chives (optional): For garnish.

For the Bacon Alternative (Halal):

  • 1/2 cup Halal beef or chicken bacon (optional): If you enjoy the taste of bacon, substitute with Halal options available at your local store.
  • Alternatively, you can skip this ingredient for a vegetarian version or use crispy chickpeas as a crunchy topping.

Instructions

FIRST STEP: PREPARE THE BAKED POTATOES

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). This high temperature will help the skin of the potatoes become crispy while the inside remains soft and fluffy.
  2. Prepare the Potatoes: Scrub the russet potatoes under cold water to remove any dirt. Pat them dry with a paper towel. Prick each potato with a fork a few times to allow steam to escape while baking.
  3. Season the Potatoes: Rub each potato with olive oil, ensuring they are evenly coated. Sprinkle a pinch of salt over the potatoes for flavor.
  4. Bake the Potatoes: Place the potatoes directly on the oven rack or on a baking sheet. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until the potatoes are tender when pierced with a fork and the skin is crispy.

SECOND STEP: COOK THE STEAK BITES

  1. Prepare the Steak: While the potatoes are baking, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season the steak bites with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  2. Sear the Steak: Once the oil is hot, add the steak bites to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the steak is browned on all sides and cooked to your preferred level of doneness. For medium-rare, aim for an internal temperature of 130-135°F (54-57°C).
  3. Add Butter: After searing the steak bites, add 1 tablespoon of butter to the skillet. Stir to coat the steak with the melted butter, enhancing its flavor and creating a delicious glaze.
  4. Rest the Steak: Once the steak is cooked, remove it from the skillet and set it aside to rest for a few minutes. This helps the steak retain its juices.

THIRD STEP: ASSEMBLE THE LOADED BAKED POTATOES

  1. Prepare the Potatoes: Once the baked potatoes are done, remove them from the oven. Let them cool for a couple of minutes before slicing them open. Use a fork to fluff the insides of the potatoes gently.
  2. Add the Steak: Spoon the tender steak bites generously over the top of each baked potato. Make sure each potato is loaded with juicy steak pieces.
  3. Add the Toppings: Sprinkle shredded Cheddar cheese over the steak and potatoes while the steak is still warm so the cheese melts perfectly. Add a dollop of sour cream on top of the cheese, followed by a sprinkle of green onions for freshness.
  4. Add Optional Toppings: If desired, top with steamed broccoli florets for a healthy addition, crispy onions for crunch, or Halal bacon for extra flavor. Garnish with fresh parsley or chives for color and freshness.

FINAL STEP: SERVE AND ENJOY

  1. Serve: Plate the loaded baked potatoes and serve them immediately while the potatoes are warm, the cheese is melty, and the steak is juicy.
  2. Enjoy: Enjoy these indulgent, hearty loaded baked potatoes with steak bites as a satisfying meal for dinner or a special treat.
